EOL Announcement for RT1003 and OEM1000

I am writing to announce our plan to make the following INS products ‘end of life’ (EOL) on 31st December 2021. There will be no supply after this date. The decision to EOL the affected products is in response to our Gyroscope supplier announcing the same for the CRG20 gyro – this is a key component present in both affected products.

Affected product models: RT1003 and OEM1000

It is our firm plan to develop new versions of the affected product models. This work has started already. The new versions are expected to include the same exterior (case, label, front panel, user cable) as they do now, with similar or improved performance for automotive testing applications. We intend to work collaboratively with our customers throughout 2021 to develop, test and release these new versions into the market as seamlessly as possible.

PPM Test has expanded its offering of passive integrators and current probes with the addition of two products from its partner Prodyn Technologies.

The PI-.05 is the latest addition to the range of passive integrators and has a faster time constant of .05 microseconds and higher frequency than the other integrators. There are different standard connectors available with the integrator, including SMA, TNC and BNC. The maximum voltage will alter depending on the connector type. (FIG. 1)

PPM Test also stocks Prodyn’s new I-125-2E current probe. As part of the I-125 series, it has a mid-size aperture of 1.25 inches and hinged two piece design for durability and ease of use. The probe is a Kwik-Latch® wide band device with a usable frequency range of between 1 kHz and 200 MHz and a transfer impedance of 1 ?. It comes with the ‘N’ type connector as standard. (FIG. 2)

The PI-.05 passive integrator is used in pulse waveform immunity EMC / EMP testing, while the new I-125-2E current probe is used in pulse waveform and high power conducted signal measurement on cable assemblies. Xsens has released a new beta firmware version for the MTi-7 and MTi-680G (with an MTSoftware Suite to go along with it).

The main features of these releases are:

• MTi-7: UTC nanosecond time fix when using NMEAin ( MTi Release Notes Feb 2021 MTi-7 1.9.1b )
• MTi-680G: GGA output through 4 pins connector support activated ( MTi Release Notes Feb 2021 MTi-680G 1.5.1b )
• MTSoftware Suite: updated to Python 3.9 from 3.5, ‘total free acceleration’ is now plotted ( MT Software Suite 2020.5 beta release )
• Updated XKF700 filter profiles to the latest version

PPM Test is pleased to bring to market a new single battery charger for its point2point units. The charger includes a number of key upgrades to improve performance, such as NiMH/NiCd Pack 35 W fast charging and DeltaV full charge sensing, followed by a trickle charge.

PPM Test Sales Director, Richard Jacklin, explained:

“Further to customer feedback, we added a new battery charger to the product line for applications where a single battery needs charging, instead of the four our existing charger was capable of handling.

“The new charger is a high quality unit with fast charge, top-off and trickle modes and really looks after the battery cells for longer term use.”

The battery charger has other beneficial features within its design including:

• Safety timer

PPM Test has appointed Australia-based Faraday Pty Ltd to provide distribution and technical support of PPM Test products across Australia and New Zealand.

The agreement sees Faraday expanding their existing test and measurement product offering with the addition of PPM Test’s Sentinel 3 and point2point units, which enable EMC aircraft testing and electromagnetic pulse testing (EMP, HEMP, and NEMP), as well as remote antenna testing and characterization.

Other PPM Test products to be offered by Faraday include shielded links, a range of AC/DC links, fixed and variable gain links, intelligent and temperature compensated links, and a wide range of EMC sensors.

TerraStar & Oceanix POR Beam End of Life

Summary:

TerraStar and Oceanix satellite-based correction services deliver precise GNSS corrections to users worldwide via LBand beams from geostationary satellites. INMARSAT, the satellite communications service provider for the delivery of TerraStar and Oceanix corrections, has provided official notice that the region covered by the POR beam (longitude: 178E) will be transferred to the 143.5E and 98W beams as part of the planned POR satellite decommission.

Products Affected:

TerraStar or Oceanix users with global or regional subscriptions in the following regions:

– North America
– South America
– Eastern Russia
– Australia
– Asia Pacific

Mitigation:

Users should not expect any performance degradation in their L-Band reception or their positioning, with the new coverage.

The change does not require any new firmware updates. Receivers with auto assignment will require no manual intervention. Receivers that are manually configured to track the POR beam, must switch to either 143.5E or 98W before February 28, 2021.

Important dates:

– 01 February 2021 – New subscriptions will no longer include the POR beam.
– 08 to 19 February 2021 – New activation messages will be sent to any users with an existing subscription that use the POR beam. This new activation message will disable the POR beam to prevent the receiver from trying to track it. This new activation message will be sent for 30 days, until 10 March 2021.

Users with an existing subscription who do not track TerraStar during the new activation period (08 February to 10 March 2021) and are operating in the POR region will have to request an activation resend to avoid any potential disruption in service.
